After the excitement of the holidays and the long dark winter days, it’s no wonder that January seems like a never-ending month but here at Ethimex HQ, we’ve had a busy month! Here is our January update:

Strong markets

Despite a volatile start to the year and with Brexit looming ever larger, within our global sales teams we can report that demand has been good in all markets and to our surprise, the key Middle East and South East Asia region is holding up well. Most likely the result from the combination of a strong $dollar and the China slowdown as potentially affecting demand this year. However, orders have been coming in on budget. In the EU and UK region sales holding up.

Organic Fairtrade rum

A great start to our NDP project for this year! we have made the first sales of Organic Fairtrade Rum, that will be delivered next week.

Gin is still golden

This month we got news that for the first time ever there are more distilleries in England than Scotland. Many attribute this growth to the ever-growing gin industry and as we see more botanicals sales and enquiries coming through our inboxes, we don’t see an end to the gin boom just yet.

New Sherry Casks

We also have good news on the cask front. On our recent trip to Spain to visit our Sherry Cask suppliers, we secured even more volume for this year. We also have put in place a supply of freshly dumped Rum and Tequila barrels which seem to be of interest for the beer industry. If you are looking for non-sherry casks, then see what else we can offer you over at Cask Solutions By Ethimex.

Overall we see that with the combination of botanicals, ethanol and casks has a strong resonance with customers.

If you read something you liked,  please do contact us for more information and we will be more than happy to help. In the meantime, we hope you have a great rest of the month!
