Heads and tails, also known as mauvais gout or foreshots & feints, are a by-product of the distillation and rectification process of beverage spirits and neutral potable alcohol, which use the "heart". They are recycled directly in many cleaning products and as low-grade industrial alcohol.
A lower-grade fermentation REN ethanol produced via fermentation, typically from beet or sugarcane which is typically used as an ethanol feedstock for further rectification.
Ethimex can also be your partner for handling waste ethanol streams, process alcohol, and out-of-specification or contaminated spirits or extracts. We can often work with waste mixtures too where there is significant ethyl alcohol content. We will collect these, discreetly, and recycle them to recover the ethyl alcohol for low-grade industrial applications.
Denatured alcohol is ethanol that contains special additives, such as bitrex, which render the product undrinkable, whilst not chemically reacting with the ethanol or altering its aroma profile. As such, denatured products are generally not subject to the excise duties applicable to undenatured alcohol. Used in cosmetics, perfumes, and pharmaceuticals Ethimex supplies bulk denatured ethanol (IDA and TSDA) typically for industrial uses. Being anti-bacterial makes it ideal as a medical disinfectant, and a preservative agent in cosmetics. In perfumes, denatured alcohol is the main carrier of the fragrance oils.
Extra-Neutral Alcohol (ENA), also known as Extra-Fine Alcohol or Surfin, is a high-purity ethyl alcohol generally produced from sugarcane molasses, grain and other feedstock via fermentation, distillation and precision rectification. Used extensively in pharmaceutical and fine chemical formulations. It is also used to make alcoholic beverages such as vodka and aperitifs, find out more on our Premium Neutral Alcohol page.
Extra-neutral grain ethanol is produced from grains such as wheat and corn, rye or barley. Gain alcohol is commonly used in industrial application as disinfectants, a preservative agent and in the manufacturing of cosmetics. It is also used to make alcoholic beverages such as vodka, gin, liqueurs and bitters, for more information visit our Premium Neutral Alcohol page.
Also known as absolute ethyl alcohol, our extra-fine anhydrous ethanol is produced via fermentation and dehydration. Widely used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and inks, as well as in some chemical processes.
